Twitter suggested to me that I follow Parko Polo (a.k.a. Edinburgh-based artist Edward McGowan). So I clicked on his profile, which took me to his website, and was delighted to discover all of his charming, colorful illustrations. Like these four for the National Library of Scotland: This witty illustration (“A seemingly empty room of ninjas”), [...]

I like the new “Paula” and “Potted Garden” designs by Finnish design duo Kristiina and Sami of Polkka Jam. The themes of their illustrations are often about the simple pleasures of life. For much more, see their website and blog. You can also see the two times I’ve featured them before -  here and here. Images: [...]

I was all set to show you some wonderful floral patterns by Toronto-based designer Elizabeth Olwen when I saw these equally wonderful Olympic inspired patterns of synchronized swimmers on her blog. I think the smile on my face when I saw them was almost as big as the smile on theirs! See Elizabeth’s portfolio here. [...]

I had a smack-my-forehead kind of moment yesterday when Denise Holmes (an illustrator whose work I love) posted a note on Facebook about how she’d contributed some of her illustrations to a clip art website called The Ink Nest. It had never occurred to me that there are beautiful, affordable clip art websites! (Or maybe [...]

Found a link to these illustrations by Norwegian-based Out of Paper hiding out in my bookmarks. Wish I had a print of that first illustration, which reminds me a bit of Kris Atomic’s work. See more illustrations on the Out of Paper website. All images: Out of Paper

Blueberry print by Anek

I am really taken with these prints by Ana, a Croatian graphic designer and illustrator. Exquisitely simple and richly colorful. The two fruit prints, in particular, are my favorites.

Ana has many more designs in her shop (in other sizes, too), as well as a calendar. If you have a foodie on your holiday list, her art prints may be just the thing you’re looking for.

You can also find her on Tumblr, Twitter and Pinterest
